Baseball update

The past week-and-a-half have been some frustrating ones for the Barton baseball team. Cold weather and rain have been forcing us indoors over half of our January practice days, and escalated today into a snowout of proportions nobody imagined.

It was the first snow in four years in the Wilson/Greenville area, and snow it did. Over four inches by my guess, canceling practice for us and classes for those in the Barton January term. We’ll be back inside again, where, as a certain Sneed brother said, we’re never quite sure if we should shoot basketball or throw baseball….although it’s typically the latter.

By the way, a team of 35 guys throwing baseballs in a gym with white walls is scarier than driving with a cougar.

Sorry for the language in this clip. Not so much a fan of the obligatory Will Ferrell g-d’s myself, either.

A few of us did get some swings in today, as Barton athletic director Gary Hall has graciously allowed the baseball team to keep up the batting cage in the main gym here….as long as we don’t hit during games or basketball practices.

Oh yeah, also got a few mean games of HORSE in today. Apparently I have the ugliest shot that goes in of anyone in America. S’all good though….just call me Wachovia, because the bank was open!

Hopefully we’ll be back on the field by Friday. Can’t be having any more of that horse business. Plus we gotta start seeing some live pitching and hopefully get a couple of scrimmages in. First game is 12 days away!
