The nicest McDonald’s ever
You know, I felt kinda bad when I said “no, thanks” after the McDonald’s lady asked me if I wanted to donate a dollar to the Ronald McDonald House.
“Just need a large coffee,” I then said.
“Cream and sugar?”
“Um, yeah, three sugars.”
“You want us to go ahead and put those in for you?”
Surprised, I just mumbled, “Uh, sure!”
Then I pulled around and paid the lady. “How are you?” she asked.
“I’m fine, how are you doing?”
“I’m doing great!”
Thing is, she actually sounded like she meant it.
Then I pulled up and took my coffee — sugar already in — and the lady at that window gave me one of the most genuine smiles I think I’ve ever seen at a drive-thru window, except when I bring Cooper with me.
“Have a great day!” she said.
I drove off checking my face in the mirror to make sure I didn’t have something on it. Why in the world were they all so….smiley?
It’s a bonafide rarity to see such happy fast food workers, especially, it seems, at McDonald’s. Someone should give them all a bonus or something. They seemed authentically nice, not just repeating phrases they were told to say. Maybe a manager was leaning over both their shoulders from around the corner or something, but I didn’t see one.
Maybe they just thought that I needed some cheering up since I was too parsimonious (GRE word!) to afford giving a dollar to the Ronald McDonald house.
Whatever the reason, here’s to the McDonald’s on College Road in Wilmington beside the Dick’s Sporting Goods store. Stay happy, folks.
Why didn’t you take Cooper with you!?
Funny. Coming from New York City, whenever some one is genuinely nice, I always assume that they are A: crazy or B: wangling for something or C: An out-of-towner.
Haha yeah, what’s wrong with nice people? Why are they so nice?
